Update: Meeting with House Appropriations / Senate Finance Staff
Several Commonwealth’s Attorneys (Mr. Branscom, Mr. Vener, Mr. Chichester and Mr. Morrogh) along with Mr. Harris met with members of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance committees staff on October 15, 2008. Mr. Harris stated that the purpose of the meeting was to inform staff what CASC does for Virginia’s prosecutors and explain that CASC produces better training cheaper than any alternative. Commonwealth’s Attorneys will be contacting General Assembly members regarding the budget and support for CASC.
Mr. Harris stated that the Governor’s budget cuts took approximately 10% of CASC’s budget. Mr. Harris stated that CASC will continue to produce the current programs on this smaller budget. Mr. Harris stated that each program will be streamlined, but no programs were lost yet because of budget cuts.
The Executive Program agenda was attached to Council’s meeting agenda. There will not be a registration fee. At this time there are 45 registrations. A reminder email will be sent out to encourage more attendees.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:45 p.m. The next Council meeting will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Charlottesville Omni, during the Executive Program.
