Call to Order
Mr. Grimes called the meeting to order at 11:05 a.m.
The draft minutes from the December 1, 2011, meeting were previously posted and circulated to Council. The minutes were approved as submitted.
Mr. Harris reviewed the agenda items:
Update on Conflict of Interest Training
Mr. Harris acknowledged that the on-line Conflict of Interest training is difficult to use. He will email to members: 1) a summary of the easiest way to utilize the on-line training, and 2) the name and contact information for a representative (Sheila Overton) who can assist users. Mr. Harris suggested that CASC do an in-person 1 hour Conflict of Interest training next year, perhaps at the Executive Program. Failure to complete Conflict of Interest training will be reported to the Secretary of the Commonwealth.
Registration Fee for CASC Training Programs
Mr. Harris asked for approval for CASC to charge the same registration fees as last year for yearly training programs. A motion was made, seconded and approved unanimously.
Proposals (Richmond, Norfolk) for Venue 2013 Spring Institute
Ms. White moved that 2013 Spring Institute be set in Richmond at the Richmond Marriott. The rationale is that Tidewater offices would like to give their staff an opportunity to travel to a statewide training. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously. A motion to invite former Commonwealth’s Attorneys to Spring Institute was made, seconded and approved unanimously.
District 7 Council Representative Vacancy
Mr. Harris reported that Wade Kizer has left office, so the position of District 7 Council Representative is vacant. Council chose to pass this issue to give eligible Commonwealth’s Attorneys an opportunity to express interest in the position.
There being no further business before Council, the meeting adjourned at 11:17 a.m. The next regularly scheduled meeting is Thursday, February 16, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at the Compensation Board Conference Room, Richmond.
