Call to Order
Mr. Bryant called the meeting to order at 3:03 p.m.

Consideration of the minutes
Mr. Bryant moved for the acceptance of the minutes from the June 18, 2008 meeting. The motion was seconded, and the minutes were approved unanimously.

Chairman’s Report
Mr. Bryant deferred his report.

Administrator’s Report
Mr. Harris directed the members to a listing of the training program topics for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Richard Wintory is the presenter for a substantial part of the training program with his Friday session on handling novel defenses and the Saturday Supreme Court update. 

Mr. Harris urged each Commonwealth’s Attorney to provide information and a photo for the VACA Commonwealth’s Attorneys’ Facebook. Mr. Harris stated that a digital format of the Facebook is expected to go out in September 2008.

Mr. Harris deferred to Mr. Chichester concerning an update on federal funding issues of interest to Commonwealth’s Attorneys.  Mr. Chichester will discuss these issues at the Annual Meeting to be held on Saturday, August 2, 2008.

Mr. Harris went over the CASC’s schedule for upcoming training programs. CASC is presenting  Advanced DUI training for police/prosecutor teams in Blacksburg on August 25-27, 2008, and training on Non-stranger Sexual Assaults in Williamsburg on October 19-23, 2008.  Mr. Harris also pointed out the addition of a 1-day Regional Gang Trainings that will take place in Middletown, Bristol, Lynchburg and the Tidewater area.

Adjournment
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:15p.m. The next Board and Council meeting will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at 11:00 at the Henrico Sheriff’s Department Conference Room.
