SUMMARY:Advanced DUI - Staunton
DESCRIPTION:Advanced DUI – Topics to be covered include Investigative Stops\, Standard Field Sobriety Tests and PBT\, breath and blood testing issues\, discussion of factual scenarios\, checkpoints\, use of transcripts and other code sections for proving elements in court\, issues pertinent to Manslaughter cases and more! The latest version of the Virginia DUI Manual will be distributed to participants. This training program utilizes a team-training format ideally requiring a team consisting of a prosecutor and a law enforcement officer from the same jurisdiction. Though\, the team is not required if a person would like to enroll but unable to have a team member attend.\nThis training will be limited to 40 resident attendees and 10 commuting attendees. Lodging and meals will be covered for those who reside more than twenty-five (25) miles from the training site. Lunches will be provided for commuting attendees. No mileage reimbursement will be provided. \nPreference is given to teams consisting of an officer and a prosecutor from the same jurisdiction. \nRegistration does not guarantee acceptance to the program\,\nconfirmation of selection for the program will be sent out by May 31\, 2024.\n  \nThis program is for Virginia prosecutors and law enforcement officers only.\nFor more information\, contact Paula Bruns at pmbruns@wm.edu or 757-775-2799. \nClick here to register for Advanced DUI.\n \n
