SUMMARY:Combatting Commercial Sex Trafficking and Forced Labor in Virginia:  A Comprehensive Training for Law Enforcement and Prosecutors
DESCRIPTION:CASC\, DCJS and the VSP together are offering a free four-day training to both prosecutors and law enforcement on the investigation and prosecution of commercial sex trafficking and forced labor.  It will be held in Williamsburg from January 13 – 16\, 2025. \nThis program\, developed in partnership with the Human Trafficking Institute in Washington D.C.\, will increase the overall awareness and understanding of commercial sex trafficking\, forced labor and illicit massage businesses.  It will dispel common myths and misconceptions through the use of data and create an understanding and working knowledge of the applicable forced labor and commercial sex trafficking laws.  It will further increase victim identification and improve human trafficking investigations and prosecutions and will improve the collaborative response to combatting trafficking in the Commonwealth of Virginia. \nThe program is free.  Lodging will be provided\, if requested\, for attendees whose offices are more than twenty-five miles from the training site.  Free parking is available.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge each day. Dinner will be on your own and not reimbursed. Mileage is NOT covered and will be the attendee’s responsibility. \nSeats are limited.  By registering to attend\, you are agreeing to attend and participate in the entire four-day program.   CLE’s and PIC credits will be provided. \nClick here to register. \n

SUMMARY:Prosecutor Bootcamp: A Comprehensive Training for the New Prosecutor
DESCRIPTION:Prosecutor Bootcamp is a week-long intensive training for the new prosecutor.  It will be held in Staunton\, Virginia. This program is open to prosecutors with three years or less experience. Specific topics to be covered include trial skills\, evidentiary issues\, practice in General District and Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court\, work-life balance\, and legal writing\, among others. \nLodging will be provided for attendees whose offices are more than twenty-five miles from the program venue.  Meals will be provided or reimbursed at state per diem rate\, but mileage to and from the program is not covered. \nRegistration closes on December 3. Once you have registered\, you’ll receive a confirmation email and by December 10\, you will be notified whether you have a spot in the program or have been placed on the waitlist. This training is limited to 30 students who will be accepted on a first come\, first served basis\, with a preference for one attendee per jurisdiction.
