DESCRIPTION:CIIFER: ZERO DAY is CASC’s basic digital evidence course for prosecutors and law enforcement. Immediately preceding CASC’s annual CIIFER electronic evidence conference\, ZERO DAY is a one-day\, basic course to introduce basic legal and technical concepts to newcomers to digital evidence collection. The program will include prosecutor and law enforcement instructors. Registration is open to prosecutors and law enforcement who are seeking very basic instruction on the fundamental legal and technical concepts involved in collecting and analyzing digital evidence. \nThe training is held in Staunton\, VA. DESCRIPTION:CIIFER is CASC’s digital evidence conference\, a two-day statewide conference welcoming prosecutors and law enforcement for a multi-track agenda that will include in-depth basic and advanced training on cyber-attacks\, forensic analysis of digital devices\, and obtaining digital records from third parties such as cellphone and internet providers. This program will include subject-matter experts from multiple disciplines as well as representatives from some of the nation’s largest internet-service providers. SUMMARY:Investigation and Prosecution of Gang Cases ("Gang Busters XII")
DESCRIPTION:Gang Busters is an intensive\, workshop-style\, interactive training course on the prosecution of gang cases\, similar to TOP GUN one of CASC’s longest running programs. This program covers the latest developments in the law\, the criminal practices used\, an exercise in qualifying as a gang expert and the latest developments in gang investigation and prosecution. \nThis five-day training will be held in Williamsburg and is open to Virginia prosecutors and law enforcement. Attendance is limited to 20 teams\, each of which consists of a prosecutor and a law enforcement investigator from a given jurisdiction. Attendance at all sessions of the program is mandatory. \nACCEPTANCE IS BY APPLICATION ONLY. Upon completion of the online registration\, you will receive a confirmation email containing a link to the application. Complete and return the application to Jill Harris at jcharris@wm.edu by Monday\, May 31\, 2026. Acceptance decisions will be emailed no later than June 30\, 2026. \nLodging is provided for attendees whose office is 25 miles or more from the training venue. Breakfast and lunch are provided. SUMMARY:Prosecutor Bootcamp: A Comprehensive Training for the New Prosecutor
DESCRIPTION:Prosecutor Bootcamp is a week-long intensive training for the new prosecutor.  It will be held in Staunton\, Virginia. This program is open to prosecutors with three years or less experience. Specific topics to be covered include trial skills\, evidentiary issues\, practice in General District and Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court\, work-life balance\, and legal writing\, among others. \nLodging will be provided for attendees whose office is twenty-five miles or more from the program venue. Meals will be provided but mileage to and from the program is not covered. \nStudents will be accepted on a first come\, first served basis\, with a preference for one attendee per jurisdiction.
