SUMMARY:Fury Road: Investigating and Prosecuting Impaired Fatal Crashes
DESCRIPTION:The Fury Road Program is an intensive two-day training for Virginia prosecutors and law enforcement officers\, scheduled to take place in Staunton from June 23 to 25\, 2025. It will cover crash scene evidence collection\, crash reconstruction\, charging decisions\, dealing with legal defenses\, case scenarios\, victim outreach\, and more! Participants will receive the latest version of the Virginia DUI Manual. \nThis training follows a team-based format\, ideally requiring a team consisting of a prosecutor and a law enforcement officer from the same jurisdiction.  It’s designed for law enforcement officers who are either Virginia State Troopers handling impaired driving cases or a local law enforcement officer who is on a crash response team or regularly involved in investigating fatal motor vehicle crashes. Attendance at all sessions of the program is mandatory. \nRegistration does not guarantee acceptance into the program. Confirmation of selection will be sent by email by May 1\, 2025. \nLodging and meals will be provided for participants whose office is more than twenty-five (25) miles from the training venue\, and lunch will be provided for commuting attendees. SUMMARY:Investigation and Prosecution of Gang Cases ("Gang Busters XI")
DESCRIPTION:Gang Busters is an intensive\, workshop-style\, interactive training course on the prosecution of gang cases\, similar to TOP GUN one of CASC’s longest running programs. This program covers the latest developments in the law\, the criminal practices used\, an exercise in qualifying as a gang expert and the latest developments in gang investigation and prosecution. \nThis five-day training will be held in Williamsburg and is open to Virginia prosecutors and law enforcement. Attendance is limited to 20 teams\, each of which consists of a prosecutor and a law enforcement investigator from a given jurisdiction. Attendance at all sessions of the program is mandatory. \nACCEPTANCE IS BY APPLICATION ONLY. Upon completion of the online registration\, you will receive a confirmation email containing a link to the application. SUMMARY:DUID: High Crimes and Misdemeanors for Law Enforcement and Prosecutors Training - Eastern Shore
DESCRIPTION:This 1 1/2-day course is designed specifically for Virginia prosecutors and law enforcement officers handling impaired driving cases where the driver is impaired by drug(s). Topics include illegal drugs\, marijuana\, prescription drugs\, over-the-counter drugs and other impairing substances. The training includes a range of topics including the drug categories and their spectrum of potential physiological responses\, aspects of expert testimony\, blood draws\, information from Drug Recognition Experts (DREs) and their role\, discussions of responding to defense arguments in DUID cases\, court demonstrations and more. Participants will receive a training binder and the newly updated 2025 edition of the Virginia DUI Manual. \nThis training follows a team-based format\, ideally admitting a team consisting of one prosecutor and one law enforcement officer from the same jurisdiction. Groups can also be admitted comprised of a prosecutor(s) and a law enforcement officer(s). However\, individuals may still enroll if they are unable to form a team. The program is limited to 50 attendees—40 with lodging accommodations and 10 commuting attendees. Prosecutors and law enforcement working in the Eastern Shore will have priority registration. \nThere is no registration fee for this training. Lodging will be provided for participants whose office is twenty-five (25) miles or more from the training site. Lunch will be provided for all attendees both days. Meal reimbursement will be provided for those with overnight accommodations at the established per diem rate. Attendees will not have time to leave the training site for lunch. Please note we cannot reimburse mileage or tolls. \nTraining is scheduled to be held 11/20/25 11:00 a.m. – 11/21/25 4:00 p.m.\, but these times may change slightly.
