SUMMARY:Intro to Human Trafficking for Law Enforcement and Prosecutors
DESCRIPTION:CASC\, DCJS and the VSP together are offering a free two-day training to both prosecutors and law enforcement on the Introduction to Human Trafficking Investigation and Prosecution. It will be held in Williamsburg January 11 – 12\, 2027. This basic training is a prerequisite to the advanced training. \nThis free two-day (all day each day) training will increase the overall awareness and understanding of human trafficking\, and dispel common myths and misconceptions by way of data. It will further create an understanding and working knowledge of the applicable forced labor and commercial sex trafficking laws as well as increase victim identification and improve human trafficking investigations and prosecutions. Lastly\, it will improve the collaborative response to combat trafficking in the Commonwealth of Virginia. \nThe program is free. Lodging will be provided\, if requested\, for attendees whose home is twenty-five miles or more from the training site.  Free parking is available.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided free of charge each day. Dinner will be on your own and not reimbursed. Mileage is NOT covered and will be the attendee’s responsibility. \nSeats are limited. SUMMARY:Advanced Trial Advocacy Program
DESCRIPTION:The Advanced Trial Advocacy Program is an intensive three-day program offered for prosecutors who have some jury trial experience. This program will provide approximately 12 CLE hours. Instead of a case study being provided to students\, attendees will each bring one of their own cases to work from throughout the program. Lectures will cover analytical advocacy and theory bases prosecution as well as all phases of a jury trial from voir dire to closing argument and preserving the record There will be small group case discussions and student performances. \nThis program will be held in Virginia Beach. Attendance is limited to 30 students. Breakfast and lunch will be provided and dinner will be reimbursed per CASC policy. Lodging will be provided to attendees whose home is 25 miles or more from the venue.
