Call to Order
Ms. Parr called the meeting to order at 12:00 noon.

 

Minutes
The draft minutes from the August 3, 2014, and August 6, 2014 meetings were previously posted and circulated to Council.  The minutes were approved as submitted.

Ms. Chambers reviewed the agenda items:

Old Business

CASC Curriculum Committee Update
Ms. Chambers reported that the Curriculum Committee retreat was held on September 4 – 5, 2014.  The committee planned the agendas for the 2014 Executive Program, the 2015 Spring Institute and the 2015 Annual Summer Program.  Ms. Chambers reviewed in detail the planned agenda for each training program.

2015 & 2016 Executive Program Venues
Ms. Chambers reported that members voted to hold the 2015 Executive Program in Roanoke.   In view of the decision at the August 3, 2014, Council meeting to rotate the Executive Program between Staunton, Roanoke and Williamsburg, Ms. Chambers noted that the 2016 Executive Program will be held in Williamsburg Virginia, followed by Staunton in 2017.

New Business

CASC Fall 2014 Training Programs
Ms. Chambers reported that the Red Flag Insurance Fraud training will be held September 30 – October 3, 2014 in Huddleston, VA and has an enrollment of 35 students.  Trauma to Trial will be held at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel in Staunton, VA, October 6 – 10, 2014 with 34 students enrolled.  iPad for Prosecutors will be held in Lynchburg from October 14-16, 2014, with 23 students enrolled and 2 slots still available.  The 2014 Executive Program will be held at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel in Staunton from December 4 – 6, 2014.  Eighty-two Commonwealth’s Attorneys and Chief Deputies have registered so far.

CASC Budget 
Ms. Chambers explained that CASC’s budget situation is in a state of flux because of the Abbott Lab situation. She has submitted budget savings proposals as requested by the Governor reflecting a 5% agency reduction in general funding for FY 2015 and a 7% reduction for FY 2016.

Moving November B&C meeting to October 29, 2014
Ms. Parr explained that she will be out of the country for the next Council meeting scheduled for November 5, 2014.  Following discussion, a motion was made, seconded and unanimously passed that the November 5, 2014 meeting be rescheduled to October 29, 2014 at 12 noon at the Henrico County Sheriff’s Conference Room.

There being no further business before Council, the meeting adjourned at 12:24 p.m.  The next regularly scheduled meeting is October 29, 2014 at 12:00 noon, (rescheduled from November 5, 2014) at the Henrico County Sheriff’s Office Conference Room.
