Call to Order
Mr. Evans called the meeting to order at 11:31 a.m.

Minutes
The draft minutes from the December 5, 2018, meeting were previously posted and circulated to Council.  The minutes were approved as submitted.

Ms. Chambers reviewed the agenda items:

Old Business

CATF Update
Ms. Chambers reviewed the CATF balance sheet reflecting account activity through December 31, 2018.  She reported that the CFO of the Virginia Retirement System has been invited to attend the February Council meeting to provide insight into VRS investment strategies and projections in view of recent market volatility.

2018 Executive Program Recap
Ms. Chambers reported that the Executive Program was well-received, receiving 97% Excellent or Good ratings on the evaluations.  One-hundred thirty-three people registered to attend.  Ms. Chambers reported on the status of attendee reimbursements.  She noted that 8 offices attended but did not request reimbursement.

2o19 Spring Institute Update
Ms. Chambers reported that thus far 556 people have registered to attend the 2019 Spring Institute.  The host hotel filled up within 2 to 3 hours of registration opening, but both overflow hotels still have rooms available.  Ms. Chambers reviewed the conference agenda, highlighting the fact that the entire agenda for Wednesday, April 10, 2019, will focus on upcoming changes to the rules of discovery.

Richmond Office & Meeting Space Rental Update
Ms. Chambers reported that she received an email on January 8, 2019, from the Department of General Services (DGS) saying that SunTrust had received the cost estimate for the requested improvements and that they would be working on their proposal to submit to DGS.  Ms. Chambers stated that she hopes to have a written proposal from SunTrust in time for the next Council meeting.

2022 Spring Institute Update
Ms. Chambers reported that she and Mr. Casey toured the Greater Richmond Convention Center (GRCC) last week.  The available space easily will accommodate our numbers.  She asked membership if they were interested in hosting a dinner on Sunday night for attendees because many local restaurants are closed on Sundays.  Membership unanimously voiced their opposition to this suggestion.

 

New Business

Proposed Fulltime Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor (TSRP)
Ms. Chambers reported that she had a long conversation with the DMV last week about consolidating CASC’s two part-time TSRP positions.  Proposed changes to the current grant award have been submitted and are awaiting approval.  Once DMV approves the changes, CASC is ready to post an advertisement to fill the position.
