Mr. Morrogh called the meeting to order at 11:35 a.m.

Ms. Chambers reviewed the agenda items:
Old Business
Abbott Lab Update: Mr. Caldwell reminded membership that VACA representatives met with House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committee staffers last month. The meeting was geared toward educating them about the amount of money it takes to have well-trained prosecutors in Virginia. The discussion focused on the request for a $720,000 line item to pay for Spring Institute in its entirety. Dick Hickman from Senate Courts also suggested including funding for the Trial Advocacy Program. Mr. Hickman has since told Mr. Stolle that they are still working on budget amendment language.
Annual Summer Conference Update: Ms. Weist reported that as of June 9, 225 people total had registered for the Annual Summer Conference. One-hundred twenty-two of those registrations were for the full conference, including VACA social events. One-hundred and three were for the MCLE-only portion of the conference. Five people from the Office of the Attorney General have registered. Five retired Commonwealth’s Attorneys also have registered. Ms. Weist further reported that the agenda for the CASC portion of the conference is finalized. Philip Bogdanoff, a retired career prosecutor from Ohio, will be doing 2 one-hour presentations on ethics. Mary Langer and Kelli Burnett from the Richmond Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office will be presenting on negligence in child and elder abuse cases. Alexandria’s Commonwealth’s Attorney, Bryan Porter, will discuss identifying and prosecuting human trafficking cases. Jim Peterson from the Department of Justice will present on eyewitness identification. As in past years, Richard Wintory from the Pinal County Attorney’s Office in Arizona will give a Supreme Court case law update. There will be two MCLE video replays: 1) this year’s Spring Institute Ethics presentation and 2) Russell Strand’s presentation on Forensic Experiential Trauma Interviewing (FETI), also from this year’s Spring Institute.
Case Management Vendor Presentations at Annual Summer Conference: Ms. Chambers announced that quite a few offices have recently contacted her seeking information about new case management systems. She reminded members that there will be case management vendors at the annual summer conference and they will be giving presentations on Monday, August 4, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Office staff and IT personnel are welcome to attend.
Homicide Program: Ms. Chambers reported that there has been quite a bit of interest in a new Homicide program. She advised that in view of the current budget crisis in Richmond, CASC will hold off on finalizing any arrangements for that program. Once funding has been firmly established, CASC will proceed with booking a venue and finalizing the curriculum and faculty.
New Business
CASC FY 2014 – 2015 CASC Budget: Ms. Chambers announced that because of the current state budget crisis, she has been unable to present information to Council about the 2014 – 2015 CASC Budget. She hopes that situation will be resolved before July 1.
New Laws Training for Law Enforcement: Ms. Chambers announced that she has completed the 2014 Appellate and Legislative Updates for Law Enforcement materials. She is waiting for them to be approved by DCJS. Membership asked Ms. Chambers to send them out as soon as possible.
NAPC Conference: Ms. Chambers announced that she will be attending the National Association of Prosecutor Coordinators conference in Denver, Colorado, from July 16 – 18, 2014. She is looking forward to her first NAPC meeting as Director of CASC.
